Text for Cantata 192
Nun danket alle Gott

Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750)

1. CORO
Nun danket alle Gott
     Now all, thank God
mit Herzen, Mund und Händen,
     with hearts, mouth and hands,
der große Dinge tut
     who does great things
an uns und allen Enden,
for us and for all endings,
der uns von Mutterleib
who for us, from the womb
und Kindesbeinen an
     and the cradle onward,
unzählig viel zugut
und noch jetzund getan.

     has done innumerably great good
     and even now continues.

2. ARIA (DUETTO) SOPRANO E BASSO

Der ewig reiche Gott
     The eternally bountiful God
woll uns bei unserm Leben
ein immer fröhlich Herz
und edlen Frieden geben
willingly bestows on us, along with our life,
an ever happy heart and noble peace
und uns in seiner Gnad
erhalten fort und fort

and preserves us in his grace,
     onward and onward
und uns aus aller Not
erlösen hier und dort.

and delivers us from all adversity
     here and anywhere.

3. CORO
Lob, Ehr und Preis sei Gott,
Glory, honor and praise be to God,
dem Vater und dem Sohne
to the Father and to the Son
und dem, der beiden gleich
and to the one, equal to both
im hohen Himmelsthrone,
upon the high throne of Heaven,
dem dreieinigen Gott,
     to the Triune God,
als der ursprünglich war
as it was in the beginning
und ist und bleiben wird
     and is and will remain
jetzund und immerdar.
     now and evermore.
