Ich lasse dich nicht

Ich lasse dich nicht,
     I’ll not let you go,
du segnest mich denn, 
     unless you bless me,
mein Jesu, ich lasse dich nicht.
     my Jesus, I’ll not let you go.

II.  CORI
Weil du mein Gott und Vater bist,
     Because you are my God and Father
dein Kind wirst du verlassen nicht,
     you will not abandon your child,
du väterliches Herz.
     you paternal heart.
Ich bin ein armer Erdenkloß,
     I am a mere clod of dirt,
 auf Erden weiß  ich keinen Trost.
     on this earth I know no consolation.

III.  CORALE
Ich dank dir, Christe, Gottes Sohn, 
     I thank you, Christ, Son of God,
daß du mich solchs erkennen lan
     that you reveal such things to me
durch dein göttliches Word; 
     through your divine Word;
verleih mir auch Beständigkeit
     grant me also steadfastness
zu meiner Seelen Seligkeit.
     toward the blessing of my soul.

Lob, Ehr und Preis sei dir gesagt 
     Glory, honor and praise be to you spoken
fur alle dein erzeigt Wohltat,
     for all your rendered good deeds,
und bitt demutiglich, las mich nicht 
     and I ask humbly, let me not
von dein’m Angesicht 
     from your countenance
verstosen werden ewiglich. 
     be cast away in eternity.
